The Nissan Versa is a subcompact car from Nissan sold in the North American market. The Versa is the North American name of the Nissan Tiida sold worldwide, originally introduced on September 30, 2004. Built on the new Nissan B platform (the same platform used by the Renault Clio), it is available in sedan or hatchback form. The subcompact Nissan Versa will become Nissan's new entry level model in North America, while the Nissan Sentra, the previous entry level model, will move upmarket with its latest redesign. Versa models will be manufactured in Aguascalientes, Mexico, whereas the Tiida is built in Japan.
Nissan has reported a Nismo-trim Versa will be available, which will include a sport suspension, a more aggressive wheel and tire package, and some distinguishing interior / exterior styling cues.
